Magdalena Tortoriello

"I have been involved in the performing arts for nearly my entire life and simply can’t imagine a better place to be. I grew up dancing ballet, playing piano, sewing and trying my hand at numerous crafts. After years of exploring different creative outlets, the art of building and decorating costumes is what has spoken most strongly to me and is where I feel most at home. The challenge of looking at a costume rendering and figuring out how to make what one sees come to life is so wonderful and exciting to me; I love the collaborative process of working with a team and designers to fully realize their work. Finishing and decoration are almost always the most exciting part of the costume for me, it’s when the costume comes completely together and is just waiting to go onstage for its next adventure. It’s amazing how much one can learn from each show, each project, and each process. It only shows how much there is left to explore, no matter how far one has already come."
